Below I’ve broken down a few job listings for UX/UI jobs to get a better understanding of the hard, soft, and technical skills banks, studios, and big tech companies are looking for.

Junior UI Designer – NAB 
Melbourne, VIC

Your responsibilities will include

  • Create designs in alignment with NAB’s GEL and accessibility standards
  • Produce high fidelity, finished design artefacts to support the delivery of customer experience and development of designs
  • Work closely and collaboratively with development teams to ensure highest quality delivery
  • Collaborating with other designers
  • Advocate for digital Accessibility guidelines
  • Work closely with UX designers, Product Owners, BA’s and development teams
  • Facilitate walk-throughs with developers and provide support all the way through delivery

You will bring

Graduate UX Designer – Honeywell
Macquarie Park, New South Wales

As a Graduate User Experience Designer, you will work with other designers in an interdisciplinary studio to create the framework and best practices for world-class design. You will join our team that is responsible for the design of the user experience for Honeywell’s flagship automation solutions. Your role is to apply user experience design to help continually improve the end-to-end user experience for our customers.
Together, we will create design strategies, develop advanced design concepts and deliver outstanding products to market that delight our end users.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design user experiences exploring to build an ideal product experience that exceeds the expectations of our business and customers while partnering with cross-functional teams
  • Participate in the entire iterative design process from discovery through launch
  • Account for each stage of the user journey using user flow diagrams, sketches, etc.
  • Design, implement and verify user interfaces for massively scalable programs and applications desktop and mobile
  • Document functional user requirements to communicate design, process, rationale and decisions that direct and support UX/UI and functional design

Key Experience & Capabilities

  • Degree completed in the 2 years preceding the start date for the Graduate role, February 2022 or equivalent experience in HCI, UX design other user centered design program
  • Fluent with design sketching and prototyping tools (e.g. Sketch, InVision, Figma, Adobe XD, Abstract, etc.)

UX Designer – Commonwealth Bank
Melbourne, VIC

On any given week you will:

  • Work on several projects with overview from Senior Designers and the UX Lead, and manage diverse groups of stakeholders including Product Owners, scrum teams, marketing, and operations
  • Produce key UX artefacts, including journey maps, task flows, service blueprints, wireframes and interactive prototypes
  • Build and implement forward thinking user experiences, for the whole customer experience, not just the platform experience
  • Review customer insights and analytics for our platform to better understand our users and create measurable outcomes
  • Work closely with delivery teams to ensure UX is a core part of our delivery
  • Work with senior team members to form UX strategy collaboratively with our Product & Architecture teams

  • Crafting responsive solutions for platforms using industry standard tools and the best UX practices

  • Interaction design & information architecture skills

UX Designers (Digital and Emerging Technology) – EY
Melbourne, VIC

Our UX Designers are passionate about User-Centred Design/Human-Centred Design from developing detailed user journeys to wireframes and clickable prototypes. UX Designer, Google Maps

In this role, you will design engaging first-time experiences as well as power tools for users to edit and update the Maps. You will design experiences that engage and inspire people to contribute.
